Cruising
Cruising boards are usually the smallest of all longboards, and that is because they provide stability at medium and low speed. You can find them between 28-42 inches
The kind of ride in this board is very fun in my opinion, they are usually used for commuting from place to place in short distances and it is easier to move in crowded places or small spaces because they provide great turning ability due to their size and weight.

Carving
Carving consists of smoothly riding from side to side down a slope simulating surf wave riding. You want to pretend you are painting a zig zag with your board making a snake like motion.
It is one of the most famous and used techniques because carving allows to slows down your speed while going down a slope. The size of these boards will vary from 32-42 inches.

Freestyle
Freestyle boards as their name indicates are meant for a combination of riding styles. They can be used for cruising and carving but the boards are less flexible and don’t turn as easy as others. One characteristic trait of these boards is that they usually are used with small wheels so that it is easier to slide while riding. Sizes will go from 38 – 42 inches

Downhill
Downhill longboards are usually made of rigid and resistant materials to ensure stability at high speed and reduce speed wobbling issues. This type of boards usually varies from 35 inches to 43 inches. These boards are meant for experienced long boarders because the kind of ride they provide is the fastest and most dangerous of all.
